Ooblec and Flowers

Today we explored Ooblec! The children and teacher talked about how ooblec is made out of corn starch and water. We also talked about the reaction that happens between corn starch and water and how when they are combine and the mixture is moving, it becomes a liquid but if the mixture is sitting still, it becomes a solid.

While making ooblec, some children colored flowers. We used these flowers to sit on top of water to watch them "bloom". The children added a variety of bright spring colors. We folded the flowers and then let them float on top of water on paper plates!
